For a journalist, a story that fails to create an impact is as good as never have been reported. Our past projects that have managed to shock the viewers and shake the government authorities have been listed below. These stories not just challenged the system but managed to bring about a change in it as well. Its our stint as a journalist that fanned the fire within us to do more than just raising an issue. We, through IWECT, now aim to work at resolving them as well.
Manmohan Gupta
Tehelka
A chilling expose on the rampant tiger trade across the Indo-Nepal border. Manmohan broke into a notorious poacher network operating in Uttarakhand, India and found that one tiger is being killed every two weeks. He spent two risky months in the field, with the poachers to capture their modus operandi on camera. He managed to take pictures and videos of poachers whose names have long been on the “Most Wanted” list of the Uttarakhand Forest Department but the department could never identify them before as they did not have any visual evidence.
This story was first published by Tehelka and then telecast on CNN-IBN and IBN 7. The story got a huge response and the actionable intelligence shared by us, helped the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau bust four dangerous poaching networks operating in Uttarakhand.
